Daily News printed a story on the 5-Boro Pizza Tour. While I am delighted the tour gained some recognition, there was huge mistake….
Who is this Schmuck?? Who the eff is Mario????
The man pictured as the winner of the Pizza Tour is the wrong man! This man owns of Salvatore of Soho in the Bronx!.
Did he know that he was being mistaken? The more I look at the picture, the more I think of his grim as that of the cat who just ate a mouse.
And didn’t the editors realize the photog was in the Bronx?? Didn’t they find it funny that name of the owner in the picture is not the same as the owner quoted in the article?
The pizzeria that should have been pictured is Salvatore of Soho in Staten Island. Salvatore Ganci deserves all the credit for his pizzeria. He created his dream and was not afraid to fail. This pizza should have been recognized by the Daily News as Best in the City (which I believe to be a futile argument).
Here is the man:
This misrepresentation compromises my integrity because no way does this fellow from the Bronx have the best pizza in the city. It would have been beautiful if Salvatore Ganci was pictured with his dreamland pizza shop. This was a major foul up by the Daily News.
It doesn’t matter though. It was a great tour and I am confident in the choices written up in the paper. And I love the article about the article written in Grub Street.
And while I’m at it, there is no “Best”. Let’s just get that out of the way. But, for the Tour finale, I chose one last pizzeria to celebrate our adventures – Salvatore of Soho in Staten Island was it. That should tell you something.
