The Food Group at Tortilleria Nixtamal was great! We were very fortunate on Sunday – weather, venue and the people.
- Beautiful day. Couldnt ask the sun to stay out any longer. Thank you, Sun.
- Nixtamal opened up a patio on the side of the store. We were on newly constructed benches beside a huge bowl making carnitas. The owner was nice enough to accommodate our expanding and expanding group. Fernando the owner even gave the famous tour to our entire group.
- We had 13 people this time – coming from a few neighborhoods in Queens, Manhattan and even Jersey (what??). Great conversation and great food. After Tortilleria Nixtamal, we went to the newly-revealed-to-the-world: Timmy O’s Frozen Custard. Both places are run by people extremely passionate about their food and it shows.
The group keeps getting bigger and better. Every month there are regulars and newbies. This is turning out to be quite a success. Look for a mention in the Queens Chronicle this week – along with an article on the 5-boro Pizza Tour (There are open spots for this Sunday in Queens!!)
