NYC is having their restaurant week again. The deals are mostly for a 3-course lunch for $24 and/or 3-course dinner for $35.
January 18-23 and 25-30
The list is too big for me to list here. Extraordinary, actually. There are over 250 locations participating this year. You can see the entire list, menus, and reserve seats at the official site.
I’ve reported on restaurant weeks, but I don’t think I’ve ever participated. There are always detractors who are put off by special menus and the influx of food tourists. I don’t believe there is anything wrong with tourists, but I do hesitate to eat in crowds while being escorted in and out like cattle. Also, I tend to go at irregular hours or during the weekend. I try not to make appointment dining.

When is the best time to come to NY for these kind of deals? Winter only? Spring? I am trying to plan a trip from California with my teenage daughter.

Seriously, don’t bother crossing the country for these deals. You should seek help on Yelp.com or chowhound.com though.
There is another restaurant week in the summer though.
