You heard it here first: October 12th, 2008 – Diwali in Jackson Heights, Queens

Official Poster
Diwali is called the “Festival of Lights” observed by Indians in general, but more religiously by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains. It celebrates victory over evil, and uplifting of spiritual darkness. You may remember this from the show “The Office” when they had the party with Kelly and her family and Michael makes a fool of himself…
The VP The Jackson Heights Merchants Association gave me the scoop.
We worked together at the Jackson Heights Food Festival (which I still haven’t given a full review of on here). He manned the Raja Sweets Stand and I took care of his and the booths around him.
They expect 10,000 visitors that day to 74th Street in Little India, Jackson Heights. There should be lights, fireworks, food, and people dressed in an interesting manner.
This is not JH, but it is a celebration in of Diwali in the UK…
